History of Endless Memories Fellowship of Rides

Or

The Long and Not the Rest of the Story

In November, 2004 a small group of car crazy people began talking about starting a new car club in the area. The “rules” were to "have fun and give back to the community.”

Have you ever heard the old saying “the blind leading the blind"? Well, you guessed it!. We had club cards made, club membership applications in hand and ventured out to all the car shows in the area with our various classic cars and street rods.

The first year we totaled 28 members with big dreams which continued to grow. We met together that 1st year going to shows, having cook-outs, bon-fires, ice-cream socials and a pot-luck membership drive and made plans for our very 1st car show. Did I mention the club’s non-profit organization’s full name? “Endless Memories Fellowship of Rides.” Fellowship to this day remains the core of the club.

YEAR # 2 Car Show: plan-work-plan and a total of 41 members. The big day arrived “Endless Memories Benefit car Show”. Yup, got rained out so plan B got put into action the next weekend. Excitement ran high. We were really going to do this (our 1st show). It was great and the show was a success- 35 cars. Hickory Grove Volunteer Fire Dept. received a nice donation from our club that year, families who lost their homes to fire received cash from the club with the hope of making a better Christmas for the kids and family, and a single mom with a little boy with cancer was given a gas card to make sure she had gas to get her son to his chemotherapy treatments out of town. This is what it is all about.

YEAR # 3 Increase in membership, another time for planning the 2nd annual benefit show-52 cars. That year four counties: Delaware, Craig, Ottawa and Mayes Food Banks received equal donations to assist the centers with keeping their doors open and/or putting more food on their shelves. Throughout the 2nd year we tired to help other families in need as the news traveled among the members.

Year # 4 Membership up a little more. 3rd annual benefit car show “Children In Need”-74 cars strong. What a great day. Schools in the surrounding area appreciated the club's donations of new clothes for kids, coats for kids, and families who needed help due to surgeries, cancer, tornado damage, accidents, and food baskets at the holidays, just to name a few who received help from the Endless Memories Car Club.

So far, the club motto “Giving back to the community” remains strong because of all the people with or without “their rides” who have come out to our shows, dug deep into their pockets and made these past benefit shows a success.

YEAR # 5 Let the show begin again “For the Kids/Families in Need”

Well, let me tell you the rest of the story for Year # 5!

Have you heard the story of Noah’s Ark? The day of the May 2nd “rain or shine” show it poured and 23 brave ones showed up so the show went on. We all grew “webbed feet” and had a great time.

Because our club motto is “for the kids” we decided to have a Fall Show. So here goes!

The 4th annual benefit car show was held Oct 3rd downtown Miami, Ok on Route 66 in conjunction with the Miami NOW festival. 91 cars participated. Can you believe it? For this show the weather turned out to be great, the sun even decided to join the show. More awards and prizes were given out including a $500 cash grand prize, a $1,000 college scholarship to a local student, cash prizes throughout the day, plus T-shirt sales, and good ole Rock N’ Roll music. As promised for “The Kids” the club made donations of clothes for kids in need in the area, Christmas Gifts for area kids, and food for kids in need.
